Finance and HR Apprentice

Job Purpose:

Assist with day to day financial processing duties to assist the Finance and HR Team to help monitor and control the company’s finances.

On a typical day you could:

  • Input and code purchase invoices
  • Match POs and GRNS/Delivery notes to purchase invoices
  • Record receipts and payments
  • Phone and communicate with Customers
  • Update computerised accounting systems.
  • Carry out general filing and admin duties
  • Assist with all aspects of recruitment management
  • Assist and support managers with all aspects of absence management
  • Organise and maintain employee records using HR systems including payroll information
  • Checking of clock cards
  • Assisting with HR administration
  • Assisting with Career and networking events
  • Ensuring HR queries are dealt with efficiently

Duties, Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
  • Undertake the processing of purchase ledger, sales ledger, and HR duties for the organisation.
  • Accurate day-to-day inputting of transactions onto the accounting system and the maintenance of financial records including the inputting and completion of postings
  • Assist in the credit control function and to meet the strict timetable
  • Daily communication with Customers
  • Be responsible for maintaining and updating filing systems and undertaking annual archiving duties
  • Maintain and update the accounts software ledgers
  • Provide support and guidance to managers and employees across a full range of HR policies and procedures
  • Deliver effective HR administration support
  • To support monthly payroll process

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • Minimum of five GCSE’s at Grade A-C including Maths and English
  • Computer literate with good IT skills
  • Understanding of the importance of customer service and teamwork in promoting the good image of the organisation


  • Previous work experience would be an advantage but is not essential
