Diane Morgan, Executive Housekeeper at Stobo Castle talks about her experience of working alongside Shortridge to service their 52-bedroom luxury hotel in the beautiful Scottish Borders countryside.
“Stobo and Shortridge – the 2 Ss of our team. I think of Shortridge as part of our extended Stobo family. I can call the team anytime and they’re always able to help. This makes my role stress free.
“The service which we were receiving from our previous commercial laundry supplier didn’t match the standard which we strive to deliver at Stobo Castle. We were always having problems with the numbers of rejects. My colleague, Fee and I did our research, and our first impression of Shortridge Laundry was excellent – the tailored service was what we needed. We’ve now been with Shortridge for 18 years, I think that speaks volumes.
The people and the product
“Susan Peat, the general manager at Shortridge Dumfries and her team are amazing. We’ve built such an amazing rapport over the past 18 years. If we ever need help, then I know who to call – I can rely on Shortridge to save the day if we ever have a problem with stock.
“Recently we were installing new laundry machines in our spa and Shortridge supported us for a week by washing our towels. This was outside their normal remit, but it helped us enormously.
“The quality of the product is exceptional. The level of rejects is the lowest I’ve seen in my 22 years at Stobo. Shortridge services our 52 residential bedrooms – that’s 560 pieces of linen each day, from bath towels, bathmats, gowns and bed linen, including our 100% Egyptian cotton bed linen in our Deluxe rooms, and napkins from our restaurant.
“The whole team is so supportive, from the delivery drivers to Susan, Ann and Shirley. I’ve visited the Shortridge facility in Dumfries which was such an eye opener. I hadn’t appreciated the scale of the operation, but it gave me valuable insight into the process that every piece of linen goes through and the care that is taken at each stage – it’s remarkable!
